Exposing the truth about these amazingly loving, loyal, creatures. Dedicated to showing their real personalities, the sweet, docile, trainable, amazing companions they are and dispelling myths and social stigma through images and stories I find.

Defending the rights of Gorda, who may not be technically mine, but in the 2 weeks I've known her, has definitely become my family. Gorda is a sweet, loving, 5ish year old red nose pitbull/mastiff mix who's family lost their own forever home. Now her new owner is faced with the threat of losing her due to an accidental altercation with another dog (who was leashed at the time but has a history of being aggressive and territorial while running wild out back; yes, this other dog tried to attack me before) and general breed discrimination. She needs rehabilitation to be around other dogs off leash and that's exactly what we wanted for her from day 1. She's definitely been used for fights and bred for fight dogs before and even spent a year living on the streets and in a stairwell before her old owners took her in. She's an absolute LOVE around people and no one's ever known her to attack or even growl at a person. Still, the condo association wants her euthanized because she's apparently somehow a more threatening breed than a pointer mix. Barring that, they want to throw her owner out of the condo he paid for in full. Throughout this blog you'll find her whole story. The more I blog and look into defending Gorda, the more I see faces of this wonderful breed that like her, deserve equal rights and treatment. The way people act towards pitbulls (and indeed all "aggressive" breeds) strikes me the same as when I see racism in people and it needs to stop. I will also post links to rescue organizations and dogs I see for adoption because I want to see everyone home with a loving family. Thanks for all the Gorda support so far!
